Anti-wrinkle injections at Queens Dental Practice

Anti-wrinkle injections are provided by our in-house expert Dr Ramona. With over 15 years experience as a fully qualified doctor, Dr Ramona combines her deep medical knowledge with her passion for facial aesthetics.  You can feel confident knowing you are in the hands of a medically trained professional that is committed to excellent care.

How do anti-wrinkle injections work?

Anti-wrinkle injections work by addressing the root source of facial wrinkles: contraction of the tiny muscles in your face that cause creases in the skin. The injections contain a refined type of botulinum toxin, which temporarily blocks nerve signals to the muscles that cause wrinkles. This causes the muscles to relax, softening the visible lines on the face.

Benefits of Anti-Wrinkle Injections

  • Reduced Wrinkles: Anti-wrinkle injections soften lines and wrinkles, providing a more youthful appearance.
  • Quick and Minimally Invasive: Injections are simple, with minimal downtime.
  • Natural-Looking Results: Well-administered injections yield subtle, natural results.

Remember, facial aesthetics are about enhancing your natural beauty while maintaining a balanced and harmonious appearance.

What areas can be treated?

Anti-wrinkle injections can be used to treat several areas on the face. Here are some common treatment areas:

  1. Forehead: To reduce horizontal lines (also known as worry lines) across the forehead.
  2. Glabella: The area between the eyebrows, often treated to soften frown lines (also called “11 lines”).
  3. Crow’s Feet: The fine lines around the outer corners of the eyes.
  4. Brow Lift: By strategically injecting the forehead muscles, a subtle brow lift can be achieved.
  5. Bunny Lines: These are the wrinkles that appear when you scrunch your nose.
  6. Chin: To address dimpling or wrinkles on the chin.
  7. Jawline: To relax the jaw muscles and improve jawline definition.
  8. Neck: For neck bands or lines.

How soon will I see the results after the injection?

Results from anti-wrinkle injections typically become noticeable within 3 to 5 days after the treatment. However, the full effect may take up to 2 weeks. Be patient, and you’ll soon enjoy smoother, rejuvenated skin

How long with the effects of the antiwrinkle injections last?

The duration of anti-wrinkle injection effects varies, but generally:

  • The results typically last 3 to 4 months. After this period, muscle activity gradually returns, and wrinkles reappear.

What is the recovery period after the treatment?

After anti-wrinkle facial injections, here’s what you can expect during the recovery period:

1. No Downtime:

  • You can resume your regular activities almost immediately after the injections.
  • There’s usually no pain or significant side effects.
  • There may be some mild bruising and swelling that usually resolves within a few days

2. Best Practices:

  • Stay Upright: Avoid lying down for 3 to 4 hours after Botox.
  • Avoid Rubbing Your Face: Be gentle with your skin.
  • Limit Alcohol: It can exacerbate bruising
  • How soon will I see the results after the injection?
  • Sun Protection: Stay out of direct sunlight for a few hours.

What are the risks and side effects?

While anti-wrinkle injections are generally safe, it’s essential to be aware of potential risks and side effects. Here are some considerations:

1. Common Side Effects:

  • Bruising: Mild bruising at the injection site is common but usually resolves quickly.
  • Swelling: Some mild swelling may occur. Applying a cool compress (10 minutes at a time) will help to reduce any swelling.
  • Redness: Temporary redness or irritation can occur.

2. Rare Side Effects:

  • Eyelid Drooping: Injections near the eyes may cause temporary eyelid drooping.
  • Headache: Rarely, patients may experience headaches after treatment but it’s hard to say if they’re directly related to the antiwrinkle injections.
  • Allergic Reactions: Although uncommon, allergic reactions can occur.

Precautions:

  • Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications before treatment to reduce bruising.
  • Inform your provider of any medical conditions or medications you’re taking.
