Teeth whitening is a popular cosmetic treatment for all age groups. Teeth can sometimes become darker as we age and popular drinks such as tea, coffee and red wine along with certain foods can leave stains that persist even after normal brushing. Tooth whitening can help to brighten up and rejuvenate your smile creating a beautiful look every day or for a special occasion.
Boutique Whitening is carried out at home but under the supervision of your dentist. Custom-made whitening trays are made that sit tightly over the teeth. You place whitening gel inside the trays and then pop the trays in during the day or overnight until the desired level of whiteness is achieved. Boutique Whitening can only be prescribed by dentists.
Following an initial appointment to discover if it is the right method for you, impressions or moulds will then be taken of your teeth. The impressions are sent to a specialist dental laboratory that uses them to make your bespoke set of whitening trays. Whitening trays are like thin gum shields that fit exactly over your teeth.
A second appointment will be arranged when we will confirm that the whitening trays fit perfectly and you will be given a supply of the whitening gels and instructions on how to use them.
You can then begin the treatment at home applying some of the gel into the trays which are worn over a period of 2-6 weeks. There are different strengths of gels available including one for patients with sensitive teeth.
